Loved seeing your photos and reading about your "kids". I have had various Boxers over the past 36 years and two litters of pups which were hard to part with. My first Boxers were two white boys and I loved them as much as all my coloured ones, then I had a brindle girl and a red girl which I bought - since then I have had rescue babes. My last one just passed away at Christmas - congestive heart failure - life is very hard without her at the moment. Over the past 12 - 14 years I have got my dogs from Boxer Welfare as I cannot bear to think of these poor people with no-one to love them and the greatest one of all was Denver - a brindle boy who hated children, having been tormented to death by the children in his family and ended up snapping at all children who went near him. My girls were grown up by then so I took him in - he was so beautiful (aren't they all??) - soon after I got Denver, my daughter announced she was pregnant and I was a little concerned - no need - Denver took on his role as guardian to my grandson Jake and from day one they were inseperable. When Denver finally had to be put to sleep (heart trouble again) - Jake was heartbroken because Denver was his very best friend. I cannot wait for the day I can have another Boxer - I am in France at present and my hubby says I must wait till we come back to England - which I hope will be soon - there is a big hole in my lfe at present.

Hi Lesley!
You have a lovely story. Particularly about Denver.
I feel a little embarrassed almost as all my Boxers have come from my aunt. Then there's yourself and many others who have posted here who have taken a rescue dog and I know there must be many in need.
I'm still without a Boxer in my life since Jason died, so like you things are strange. It must be the longest I've ever been without one.
I hope you get to move back to England soon.

Enjoyed your site, and all the photos and histories of your boxers. I have a grand old man, Jake, he is 15 and has a brain tumour he has only days to live but is in no pain. Its going to be like losing my best friend but he has had a good life and is still full of fun and eats like a horse.

Hi Ann,
I'm sorry to hear Jake's time is nearly over. I wish they could last forever. I really do. I'm glad he's had such a long and I'm sure wonderful life though.
I dare say there's a lot of comfort in knowing Jake's not in pain Ann, but it must still be very difficult.
Here's to Jake, being an older boy that eats like a horse, he makes me think of my Jason.
Best wishes to you both Ann, give Jake a hug from me please.

hello , my name is Randy, its my first visit to this site ,..i have a question concerning our 8 week old boxer ,...TANK. yesterday when i took him out in the morning for a walk i noticed he didnt run after me like he does every other day, after a few hours i became obvious that he was having a hard time supporting weight on his hind quarters its been 24 hours and there is still no improvment i have heard that some large dogs can experience growing pains ,and can seem like a mild form of lameness due to pain in the long bones and the dog finding it painful to walk,i am very concerned that it could be more serious ,..but am unable to get a vet to return my calls on a weekend.if anyone has an idea about what could be the cause of this sudden lameness ,please let me know .thank you,..randy little

Hi Randy!
I'm terribly sorry i wasn't here over the weekend. Although to be honest I don't think I could have given you any decent advice in any case.
If you come back can you let us know how Tank is doing and what was wrong?
Thanks Randy and sorry again that you had to wait to long for a reply.

hi
i have not written in for a long time but still read all the comments. roxy my boxer is white with a brindle patch over left eye , my other boxer who is no longer with us tyler was brindle with a black face.
they say that white boxers are pron to have more problems. I dont know if this is true. all i do know is its not the colour you fall in love with, its thier ways they, give much more back than you can ever give them, Rox makes me smile every day. i still miss TY, but he could did the same, they are very funny and very loving. boxers are always up to no good. they like to help you with everything and you really dont want there help. but one look from them and you have got to forgive them what ever they have done. i love them all , colour means nothing health is what means something.
paul i see that you still miss your Jason. Are you thinkiing of getting a any more dogs. i know that, you know that you can not replace jason. but all dogs need good homes and i think from reading all the comments you give to everyone you have a true love for them. it was over a year ago i lost tyler, and when he was ill and i came on your site you and others gave me so much support and hope, it didn't work out for him, but i still thank you all.

Hi Randy,
I remember when buster was just a young pup and we had out walking, after a while he just stopped in his tracks and started whimpering. I carried him home, put him down on the carpet an he sprung back into life. We were advised from the breeder we got him from that we may have given him too much excercise for his age, just like a child who does'nt want to walk anymore they stamp their feet and scream, in an attempt to be carried, break him in gently and I think once his strength builds up you will wish he was still a pup lo, all the best ....Phil

Hi Paul and everyone, haven't been around in a while was away for two weeks end of April beginning May. Interested to read about the white babies, as you know Pixie is white with a patch over her right eye. When we got her she had a little hollow (almost a hole) in the furrow on her forehead anway over the months it began filling in and became what seemed to be a "lump" brought her to Vet who advised us to have it removed as it might turn nasty down the road had it removed on holidays, bad timing, we took off the "lamp shade" and she opened up with wound with her ears flapping, would you believe, anyway when we got the stitches out it just wouldn't heal, back to Vet's and another operation that was fourteen days ago she now has a big scar but it seems to be healing o.k., she was a howl with the lampshade on her head, still kept doing everything as usual and of course walking into things in the process, nothing keeps this dog down. Anyway the Vet said that he had "read up on her condition" it says that it was probably an inherited problem and the growth could have gone down into her brain if not looked after, so despite all the discomfort, both her's and our's, we are now glad that we had her operated on. Has anyone every heard or seen this before? The Vet said that he had heard about Cases like her's but never seen one before. Talk soon. Margaret, Boris and Pixie.

Hey Ceri! Nice to see you again!
By the sounds of things Roxy is very healthy and that's good to hear.
Yeah it's been a long time now since Jason passed on and I do plan to have another Boxer i my life. I don't know when though.
At first I just needed some time and now that I would want to. I find my personal situation has changed a fair deal and it's not really a good time in many ways.
I couldn't imagine never having another so I'm sure it will happen it's just a question of when.
Luckily my brother has two Boxers so when I really need a fix I can always see them.
Hello again Phil!!
Margaret! How're you doing?
It's nice to hear from you but it sounds like you have a lot to worry about of late but I'm so glad that now we're hearing about it, Pixie seem to be on the mend.
I've never heard Pixies problem specifically but if the vet says it's likely inherited. I wouldn't doubt him. Many breeds have all sorts of problems do to the close blood lines. It wouldn't surprise me.
Poor pixie the surgery sounds very sore. So glad it's all worked out though. I bet Boris thought it was excellent when she had the lampshade on though.

Owner of our first Boxer, Bodie, whom we are in love with, too. He will not be our last. The first dog we have allowed to sleep with us because we wanted to cuddle. These dogs are soulful and wonderful.

Hey Phil!
Sounds like some good advice, thanks for helping Pat out.
Hi there Ceri! Nice to see you again.
I Take it this dog that just had the litter was your dogs sister? So the same age?
If so then I'd think the same as you do. However I don't know that much about breeding either. My Aunts been doing it as long as I can remember but I never took enough interest to know how early on she allowed dogs to be used for that purpose.
I am however certain that all the dogs I've had that my Aunt used for breeding never had such an early pregnancy.

Ah I understand, sorry.
So two litters in the space of a year? Once again, I can't say with certainty but I don't believe that is normal no. I think My aunt's bitches only have two or three litters in a lifetime.
I guess I could be wrong though. I'll try and find out.

I'd need to speak to my aunt to be sure but my mother thinks that though they have their litters when younger, there is normally something like two years between them.
There's bound to be some good information online with a bit of digging around.

Hi Paul just dropped by to say that my two beautiful babies are doing just fine. Pixie decided to "finish off" the couch recently so we have a new one on the way but other than than she has been behaving beautifully I must say. Do you ever watch the "Dog Whisperer" on sky? There was one praticular couple who had two great danes who just ruled the house, the guy worked for Bruce "the Boss" Springstein doing what I do not know. Anyway these dogs were "the bosses" and they had actually eaten the couch they also sat on the the couch while the couple sat on the floor, anyway as usual the Dog Whisperer worked wonders with them. But here was I thinking my babies would never do that, little did I know. Maybe Pixie was watching TV that night and taking notes from the Great Danes!!!! Talk soon. Margaret

Troy reminds me of my old boxer Ranger. He was my birthday present and it was love at first. He was a beautiful flashy brindal. He lived for a year, June 08, '05 - July 04, '06. he got lose and was playing the whole time but was instently killed by a speeding car. My family and I where devistated! Now we have a very special brown boxer named Cy who i also love and has already out lived Ranger.

Hi Pam!
Nice to meet you, hope Phil's (nice to see you again Phil!) excellent suggestion does the trick for you. Good luck.
Hi there Margaret, nice to hear from you! Glad your family is doing well. Yeah I've had my fair share of destruction with young Boxers in particular. Chairs and tables, wooden things a lot but also a hole in a wall was gnawed out once.
Come Saturday I'll have had a new dog for a fortnight. She's a seven year old named Rosie. One of my Aunts. Very bouncy puppy-like for her age. No health problems except for a dodgy left rear leg.
Apparently it got injured at some point. She stands on three legs a lot and limps at times. Has trouble jumping/climing to chairs etc.
When she's actually out walking or running or playing though, you wouldn't know she had a problem.
So far so great. I'm very happy to have her!
Hello Guest!
Sorry to hear about Ranger, It doesn't really matter how long you've had them it's always incredibly difficult. I'm glad you were able to decide to get another in Cy though.
Thanks for stopping by!

I love your pictures, Ive been trawling the net looking for articles on boxers & cancer, my beuautiful boxer girl Bonnie has cancer & is dying , there is nothing the vet can do for her. I just want to make her last weeks as comfortable as possible & would really appreciate any advice.

Hi yvefinn,
I'm so sorry to hear about Bonnie's condition. I wish it could be different for you.
You know I don't know that there's much anyone can tell you. It's going to be a hard this next while harder than I can say but you know that.
All you can do is what you are doing. Trying and focus on Bonnie and doing what's best for her. Looking after her and not on focusing on your own feelings as much. You'll have more time for them than you want when she passes on.
I hope it's relatively easy for Bonnie when the time comes.
Giver her a hug for me! And let us know how she gets on Yvefinn
Take care,
Paul

Thanks Paul, you are right there is'nt much anyone can do to help. Just the shock of being told, Bonnie is only just turned 6 yrs, I know you have lost boxers young too it is very sad. We lost Bonnie's mate Clyde
( good names eh?) last year age 7yrs. Bonnie is doing rather well considering just more lethargic-not stopping her chasing rabbits & hares though lol. She is sound asleep next to her son Rock just now.
I love your site & your beautiful photos. Bonnie is red/white, Clyde was a reverse brindle/white & their son Rock is all white, fantastic breed boxers. I adore them. xx

Just a thought for you Yvefinn,
Bonnie lies sleeping as her time ticks away,
she's still just a child, only 6 as you say,
Yes, she is leaving, but she still wants too play,
But her body it aches, and we all for her pray,
But Be in no doubt, when she finally goes,
no way will the memory of Bonnie slam close,
Because Not far behind, is a son full of life,
another boxer, all trouble and strife,
He'll come from the sadness and take your girls place,,
and once again there will be a smile on your face.
Phil
